Our past wounds will always be a reminder of where we have been. But they do not have to dictate how we live or who we become.
I completed my Masters in Counseling at Covenant Theological Seminary (2009). Dr. Richard Winter, Amy Davis, and Dr. Mark Pfuetze supervised me prior to my licensure (2013). Remaining educated and informed is important to me. I have completed advanced training in trauma, abuse, and couples counseling. Most recently, I became a trained and approved EMDR therapist (2015). EMDR is the most effective therapy for healing trauma.
I am fiercely passionate about bringing more light into darkness, more beauty into ruins, and more wholeness into brokenness. Every session is an opportunity to help you become more of who you are, experience more freedom, and live more fully. To validate, normalize, empathize, and sit in grief. To reduce the power of shame, fear, and negative beliefs.
Safety and trust in the therapeutic relationship are vital to the healing process. If you come to see me for therapy, I will make assessments and form a treatment plan tailored to your unique issues, goals, and current life situation.
I am an integrative therapist, working largely from models of trauma and attachment. This is an exciting time to be a counselor. Psychology is exploding with new research and insights. If you are interested in knowing more about the different theories and techniques that inform my practice, please feel free to check out Interpersonal, Narrative, Emotionally Focused, Ego-State, Attachment, EMDR, and Psychoanalytic Therapies.

Cancellation Policy If you need to cancel a session, I ask that you let me know 48 hours before the scheduled session, or you will be charged for the session. Of course, life happens, so extenuating circumstances can be dealt with on a case by case basis.
Having Kelley as my therapist has been one of the most significant privileges of my life. She has remarkable compassion, intuition and strength. She created a safe space for me and my pain, grief, confusion and anxiety. Through working with her, I am more whole, more human and I know my own voice, strength and beauty.
- Female Client, Age 26
I have had the privilege of working with Kelley as a clinical supervisor for nearly three years. From day one, Kelley showed natural gifts of connecting with clients and establishing a healing relationship. Her insightful heart has served to both stand strongly on behalf of victims of abuse as well as sit tenderly with their pain. Anyone would be served well to have Kelley as their counselor.
- Amy Davis, LPC, NCC
Humans of New York (HONY), has been featuring a series of photographs and stories about war veterans, PTSD, and treating trauma. As a professional counselor who specializes in treating trauma, it has been very exciting to see a popular public forum highlighting the importance of treating trauma and the effectiveness of EMDR to do so successfully. Find the story here:
Since becoming an EMDR therapist, I feel exponentially more confident in my ability to actually bring healing and relief to my clients’ lives. I am deeply grateful to Francine Shapiro for developing EMDR. I have seen it transform the lives of my clients. Most of whom have suffered for far too long under the effects of past trauma.
Welcome to the newly improved, completely gutted and rehabbed website for Kelley Lucy Counseling. I am so proud to share this website with everyone on the interweb. And I would love for everyone to share it with their friends :)
I have to send out a HUGE thank you to my very talented friends Christopher Hilton and Katie Stokes. Chris is the mastermind, genius behind the website design. He also plays the bagpipes and builds magnificent fires. Katie is the graphic designer who so magically and artistically captured the image I wanted to portray in the logo and identity package she created.
I also want to acknowledge my favorite person ever, my best friend, my husband Nathan Lucy. Without his support, love, good looks, laughter, perfect teeth, and slick style I never could have made it to this point. He has made this all possible.
If you know of anyone looking for a counselor in the St Louis area, please send them my info. Thanks!
